A lady in OK wants to buy my yak but says she needs the original bill of sale because she has to register it there.... is she nuts? Is OK nuts? Is there a way around this?

was looking into that and this is what i found... Oklahoma state law requires that all boats be registered before they can legally be operated within the state. This law includes the registration of canoes and kayaks. Your kayak must be registered within 30 days of purchase. Upon registration of your kayak, you must carry your certificate of registration whenever the kayak is in operation. Failure to do so can result in fines and penalties. It's true. I sold an X-Factor to a guy in OK a few years ago. I made up a bill of sale from me to him using a template I downloaded from the Internet. That was sufficient for him to get it registered.
Hope that registration b.s. never happens down here.

That's why OK keeps Texas from falling into the gulf.

For some strange reason, OK requires kayaks (all sizes) to be registered and affix numbers. What makes it even stranger is that they do not require tags on trailers.
The OK registration form has to be notarized and be accompanied with a manufacturers MSO (Manufacturers Statement of Origin). You should be able to contact your dealer who sold you the boat and request a MSO. They will have your purchase information on record should be able to contact the manufacturer and get one for you.

Maybe it is different but maybe it helps from people stealing and selling kayaks there too.

Now I know why I don't live in Oklahoma! You're close enough. You don't have to remind me of that. They seem to migrate south some times.

Maybe it is different but maybe it helps from people stealing and selling kayaks there too. good point. Although nothing stops a thief, unless you catch them in the act and hold them at gun point till the cops get there.
