I recently bought a used boat with a manual jack plate(first boat owned with one)a 225 Johnson with a 4 blade prop. prior to buying, had the motor compression tested and all checked out, went out with the previous owner boat ran great. After taking it out two times know, when coming out of the whole, the boat seems to be bogging down for several seconds, then "winding" up and gets on plane and runs wheels off. I have tried several positions with the trim setting, not one specific thing seems to make a difference. I have noticed when it is in its bog down "seizure" the RPM's are staying at 20-30.. Anytime it does this I can go to the neutral position and the motor revs and sounds great. The manual jack plate is set in the middle, I have had some say lower, others raise, some it should be fine. I have talked to the previous owner he stated he went by the trim gauge inn the dash and always started at mid trim, whole shot didnt seem to be a big deal to him, but this is happening for several seconds to a minute. I also have ran a full tank of fuel through it 50 or so gallons...
Any suggestions or ideaswould be great

You need to check your prop shafr height starting point is 3 1/2 below the bottom of the boat. Another thing is if the prop has holes in it and has the plugs in it try pulling plugs out 1 at a time and see if that helps.

Thanks Joe, for responding no holes in the prop, but its looking like im going to be lowering the Jack plate based off of the 3 1/2 below the bottom..

If you are at less than 3 1/2 below pad just lower about 1/4 inch at a time.

Just eyeballing it, it appears to be around 2". I will get a straight edge on it. Thanks again Joe
