Fellow tubers:

I have a new pontoon boat and I need advice on
1) what kind of depth-finder?(preferably w/ temp gauge)

2) how do you secure it to the frame?

3) what about the transducer?

Thanks!

John

I'm not the expert here. I know that FB has one on his tube, I have one, and I'm sure several others do to.

As far as what kind: It depends on your budget. I'd like to upgrade to something with a little more pixal action, so soon will go to eagle 320 or 480 whatever my budget at the time of purchase.

Riggin: I took a 5 gal bucket and cut two pieces out of it in a rectangular shape, I attached the mount for my graph on one and the transducer on the other. Then I got some strap that I can take on and off and put it on like that. Use your imagination.

Being called to dinner so I have to cut this one short.

WC's plan is a winner--the 5 gallon bucket rig is a great way to go! I have a Hummingbird Pirahna Max 20 . Pretty good resolution, dual cone, temp guage, and affordable (around $100). Like Wylie, I'm going to upgrade this year, but I have been pleased with mine. A couple of buddies of mine use the Cuda models and like them, as well.

Thanks FB and WC - I think I'll start looking for a Hummingbird Pirahna.

I know I'm violating the "spirit of tubing", but I'm adding a minn kota to my arsenal this year as well.

FB, keep the web-site going, I may not be able to fish your tournaments, but we can share the water on occasion.

Thanks again -

John
