If you would be interested in meeting and contributing to the improvement and enhanement of Hydrid Stipers in Lake Lewisville.Primarily in the Stocking of Hybrids in Lake lewisville would like to hear from you!
Conversations with some of the TPW people have been encouraging and with some committment can arrange a meeting but need to know that there is interest on this forum and willingness to do something like this.
The cost of stocking can range from couple thousand dollars to 6-8 thousand depending on what the goal might be,with the pressure the lake sets it will require a meaningful committment So with the said here is the request
Would you be willing to help in contributions in any way and primarily in these levels.
Silver- 25.00 contribution Gold-50.00 contribution Platuim- 100.00 Contribution
You could surely make any amount you are comfortable with but to make this meaningful need to have at least 100 at avg of 40.00 or 200 at average of 20.00 to make this work short term and long term.
So please respond with Silver Gold or platuim and if there is another amount please just say donation committment!
If the response is meaningful can work with TPW,set up association and appoint a CPA as Treasure there are a few of those that fish the lake and in the end set plans for the Fall of 2012.
The Sole purpose of this is to provide for additional stocking of Lake Lewisville and Hybrix X Plametto Bass
Thanks for your consideration!

Count me in. I've certainly caught my fair share of hybrids over the years from Lewisville & can afford to contribute $100 a year to keep them coming.

What is the process you have to go through with the TPW to set something like this up?

Guys and Gals,
There has been some reponse and some questions let me clear up a couple of questions!
1. Any Funds donated by anyone will be only I mean ONLY! for the purpose of restocking and improving the fishery!
2. Questions about other species , The question about stripers I am not the person to answer that question but I am sure if we as a group can make a strong statement about the committment to do this the biologist can surely give us the science on what the best course to follow is!
We have had about 800.00 in committment so far in 24 hours and need to get closer to the 4-5,000 mark,so anyone who is out there that loves to fish lewisville and particularly the guides and lifer's that fish it every week can step up and make this a meaningful program,I personally make a committment of 500.00 !
I am not trying to ask for more than you can pay or afford and any comtribution will help in the cause. So if we truely believe this will make the lake one of the best in the area, lets hear from you!
Thanks and good Luck fishing,Headed out now myself!

This awesome what you guys are doing to YOUR lake! I've been looking into this for several months now for Hubbard and have talked to some key people like Joe Read and Keo Fish Farms. Another helpful option is we (Hubbard, Lewisville, and maybe LTSA) guys can pool/combine our orders which will result in more fingerlings and less freight cost. I belive the LTSA guys submit an order when their fund gets to 10K or more.
Keo Fish Farms also indicated to me they usually deliver the fish around the shad span month which is usually late May or early June, he said. So I would raise as much as posible and aim for next year's delivery.
My time is so limited now due to my mom in the hospital and my young son and my work with the kiddos at church, but I can help on the side anyway I can to benefit us all!! Thanks!!

I'm thinknig that the Lewisville Fishing Club should have a tournament/fish fry as a fundraiser in addition to asking its members for the Silver, Gold and Platuim contribution.

I was on Lewisville at sunup this morning and had a Parks and Wildlife boat pull up. He had a short questionair about what we were fishing for, how much we spend to fish and how many we catch and keep. I asked him about restocking hybrid specifically. He said there having trouble this year. He said the problem is where they breed them. It is on the Brazos River and the alge infestation has killed off a large portion of the breeding fish. Since its a female striper and a male sandy cross they are having trouble keeping the female stripers.
