What's a good bass reel, say for worm fishing or crank baits, Nothing high priced, just a good solid reel for the money. Maybe from bass pro or academy. Thanks

The h20 mettle is a reel solid value priced reel for 50 bucks. Do a search for this reel on this form an you see all the good comments.
One you build and fish with your own hand built custom rod you will fish with nothing else!

Daiwa Laguna- feels like a $150 reel with a $60 price.

Depending on your price range I'd say the H20 Mettle ($50) or the BPS Pro Qualifier ($100)

Lew's Speed spool. You will NOT be disapointed. 99 dollar reel that feels great and casts better than my Curado.

Gotta Go with the 4600 to 5500 Size Reel from Abu. Make sure it is the Swedish Silver model or the Blue C4. Under a hundred bucks and will last a lifetime.

I love my ambassadeurs, but if he is planning on using them for bass fishing, there are better options. I'm a catfishermen, and use ambassadeurs pretty much exclusively, but when I bass fish, I use an h20 mettle. I couldn't imagine throwing lures all day with a reel as heavy as a 5500. There are much better options out there. The mettle, the citica, and also the lews speed spool will let you cast all day, and not make your arm want to fall off.

9.3 ounces on a 4600C3 compared to 8.1 ounces on the Mettle. That extra ounce is going to wear you out?
A properly tuned and maybe upgraded C3 Will outcast (as most any round reel)most any low profile. With the 6 pin cast control and the Carbonfibre drags of the C series reels they are still the most durable reel for under 100 bucks on the market. These are the only Garcia Reel I would ever own and I have many with some over 40 years old that still work fine. I have a 5500C that I have had since 1976 that I have upgraded to a 6 bearing reel that I will go head to head with anyone on casting accuracy and distance.
Other than that if it don't start with Shimano I will not buy it.

Bass fishing, Abu Garcia Black Max!!
You get a solid reel and rod combo for $90.
I have hundreds of fish on mine and still works like new after 3+ years
You don't always need a boat.. But gosh darn it, sure helps!
