I was using the old hard plastic ones. But I found that the best thing I've done so far was to make a change.

I went to a pair of regular snorkling fins that are very light weight and fit over my waders stocking feet just fine. I move faster than ever, and never have had a problem with them.

What do you use? juggle

WC,

I would like to know what brand of fin you are using. confused I have had people recommend the US Divers fins @ Academy. I have looked at them in the largest size (10-13) but can't get them over the size large Cabela's neoprene wading boots that I would like to wear. I only have a size 9 foot.

During the summer I have worn a thinner pair of diving boots with my old diving fins. The water is getting too cool for shorts now so I have to find something to wear with the stocking foot waders and neoprene wading boots soon. laugh

Any ideas appreciated!

Ron, I'm not sure what brand they are, but they say "surge" on the fin. I have extra large waders and about a 10W foot. Fits over it fine. The old fins I had, was a beating going 100 yards. Now, I am all over the place.

I actually bought these fins a year before I even tried them... I was afraid of getting out and having problems.. They have never been a problem at all. The sandals are perfect.

Browning float tube fins--huge, tough, and neutrally bouyant--won't sink. Had mine for about 10 or 11 years, and still good as new!

I also use the surge fins from acadamy. Scuba diving fins are definatly the way to go.

I used the fins that fit over the boot of my waders for a long time..I also used some similar to the ones Fish posted a pic of last spring. I thought they were heavy. .. They were alot of work.. The surge are super light and fast. Easy one and off.

fishbrain,

Any idea if they still make these Browning tube fins? I don't see them on the browning.com site nor can I find them listed on a web site.

Anybody know where you can buy Mares(sp?) diving fins around Dallas? I have seen them touted on the Big Fish Tackle forum.

fishbrain,

Thanks for the link. They do not list any sizes so I guess they only have one size. Is that correct?

Could you wear them with something like these boots?

What size foot do you have and what type of boot do you wear with them?

Have you every ordered from this company? I had a hard time telling if they are still in business! When you choose "order" nothing happens. You have to "check out" to see if there is something in your cart. It has to have one of the worst web sites that I have seen in quite a while. eek

I haven't used them, and you're right about the site--their toll free number is 1-866-367-3597. You might want to give 'em a holler, because who knows how up-to-date their site is. The fins will fit over boot-foot waders. I use stocking-foot waders and wear wading boots now, and they fit fine. The opening is big and designed just for float tubing. I'm a size 10, and they are comfortable on me.

Per fishbrain's recommendation eeks I purchased a pair of the Browning fins. They have now arrived and he was right - they are HUGE - approximately 22" from fin tip to top of foot pocket! laugh They also are made to fit over wading boots which nothing else I have found would do. I plan to wear them with stocking foot waders and neoprene wading boots.

I did purchase them from Discount Fishing Tackle at the phone number listed earlier in the thread - DESPITE their web site. Total price was $45 including UPS shipping and no sales tax.

Now I just need to go catch some fish...

Fishbrain,

I use the exact same kind of fins as you, since about '92. Do you know where to get replacement straps? Thanks for any info.

LWS,

I sure don't. I'll do some checking--mine have a few cracks in 'em, but they've held up pretty well. I'll let you know if I find anything.
