Come on guys, please not throw your backlashed line in the water. Last December, when I winterized my boat I changed the prop and pin on the trolling motor. Yesterday, was my first time out and I went up the river on Hubbard, after a few hours my trolling motor stopped working. Today I took the prop off and found about 20 feet of braded line on the shaft. It sheared the new prop pin, displaced the shaft seal, and overheated the brushed & contacts. Two hours of work taking it apart and putting it back together and everthing is working great and good to go.

Dont toss this junk back in the lake, and dont toss it in you boat. Melted worms are a mess and trash and line blows out. Why not cary a plastic coffee can with a lids in your rod bin boat for trash, used line, worm parts, rusted hooks, etc.

Amen!! Last year my lower unit went out.....braided line ate seals, grease out, water in, gears froze, COST me $1300.00 Wasn't my fault but had to pay out of pocket. Hit stump year before last... and insurance covered total cost.

Fishing is not a matter of life or death,
it's much more important than that!

Also, it goes without saying, "leave it better than you found it". It doesn't matter if it's yours, pick it up and throw it away!

I carry a 1 gallon zip bag in the boat for this, when its full I either put it in a recycle bin or throw it in the trash.

I like to stuff mine into a empty water bottle or soda
bottle. Leave a little liquid in the bottle to keep it from
blowing out and replace the cap.

I don't carry something for it (absent minded) but always put the line in my pocket. I've personally cut two ducks loose that were tangled in line and wrapped up in brush. Also anytime I hook it with my bait I try to pull all I can from the water and stash it in a compartment. Can't say how many crankbaits I've lost to braided line caught in the rocks or something.

Throw it in the cooler with all your empties & PB crackers wraping. Then put it all in the trash can at the ramp before you leave. DONE!
