How much will 1/3 of an inch of rain in an hour raise the river level between Hwy 16 and FM 4? I was going out Saturday and the forecast said Graford (just a reference point) could get 1/3 of an inch in a fairly short time before clearing.
There isn't a lot of runoff tributaries until you get further downstream but still. Would I be safe on TP island past the dock?

0, only if they released water, and they are saving it right now. It will be another dry summer.

db: on TP island or on that stretch of the river. I'm trying to decide where to camp. I'm taking my dog, a border collie that is fearful of strangers - do you think I can find a secluded spot?
Thunderstorms this weekend apparently . . . oh well.

Thunderstorms this weekend apparently . . . oh well. Shouldn't have any issues with the dog. Plenty of secluded camping spots. But please be vigilant with the flah flood potential. The river can come up quick with little warning over night with rainfall. Make sure you find high ground to camp on, secure your yak really good, and be prepared to close camp quickly.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
