My wife is out of town and I will be heading to Fork on Saturday for some practice casting. If anyone wants to meet up, come on out and catch a few.
I will let everyone know how I did, regardless.

The wind was up in the morning and it wasn't as cool as I hoped it might be. I was lacking in bites. Caught only a bass, a catfish, a bluegill, and my first ever longear sunfish. All the boaters I spoke to were having the same sort of difficulty I was having.
At night as I was leaving, huge mayflies started descending on the water. They were light cahill in color and would have been tied on about a size 2 or 4 hook. This hatch may have been hurting the fishing, since if it was extensive, even decent bass could get their fill of the nymphs. Unfortunately, I didn't have my flyrod let alone any mega-size light cahills.
On a worse note, my fins were still set up for wearing over my stocking foot waders and were too tight for my shoes. I noted this when I first put them on, but figured I just didn't need to worry about them falling off in the water. The compression bruises really started to kick in a couple hours later when I was way out from the car and my feet were throbbing by the time I made it back to the shore. I took off the fins, socks, and shoes and wandered about the bank for a while casting here and there. Then while fishing a promising spot, fire ants ripped up my feet.
