been reading here a long time but just now joining in. Usually stay around the catfish section but like to bass fish to.

Heres where I need help. Went to Tawakoni today with a friend of mine to do a little cat fishing on the dam. Saw some guys in a skeeter working the rocks and netting fish. I thought they were catching stripers but when they got closer to us I saw they wer catching bass. They passed by and were nice and they were getting ready for bass champion tournament. I saw they were using some alabama rigs. Atfer they passed by we decided to bass fish. We tied on some crankbaits and caught around 12 bass that were around 1-3 pounds. Does the alabama rig always catch bigger fish than a crankbait? We threw shad colored baits. What could i have done to catch fish like those guys?

Thanks for any help.

It was the Skeeter, not the A rig that made them catch bigger fish.....LOL

Seriously, welcome to the forum and I am sure others will be along to help answer your question.

Sounds like you need to go buy an Alabama rig, just sayin'

Me personally I would have thrown a jig.

E-Tex Welder,

Did you ask them if they were using a Hydrowave?

Sometimes the A-rig is the deal, other times it isn't.

I see you are sponsored by victor torches, good quality product there!

I had the same thing happen to me in Cedar and Tall man yesterday.Did the Skeeter have Yammie on the back? Prolly the same guys. They said that they were having a hard time catching more that one at a time in Rabbit. Kinda slow in there.

Can you really raise the price of A-rigs? They are already 30 bucks for a couple steel leaders and swivels...
