I'm in a pinch. I broke my sponsor topwater rod and have to wait for repair. I need a topwater rod and can get Abu Garcia rods fast and discounted.
Which rod would you recommend for topwater? I am thinking the medium but not sure about the tip action. Moderate or Fast?

Verita mf! And were are you getting them at a discount?
15. Signature images may not be larger than 600 pixels wide by 125 pixels tall. This includes logos, photos and other graphics. Also, no more than one row of images are allowed. If you want four or five logos in your signature, reduce their size to fit in one row. psalms 91:1-16

Veritas in a Med Fast 7'. I can throw everything from a weightless topwater worm in to a lucky 13 to a Bagley's Pop'R. Works fine for me. If you can get one on a discount I would go for it.
There is a same discount fee applied to all advice. LOL. How much of a discount are you talking about? I paid $99 for mine. Hook a brother up, I'm just sayin'.

I'd prolly go with the 5 power Veritas 7' medium fast too. I personally think the 4 power Villain would be a better fit for this application, but I don't think the extra 80 bucks (minus discount) is really justifiable for a top water rod.

Just looked...the Villain comes in 6'9" ML, MF and 7'1' M,M which I already have for cranking. Guessing since you said 4 power you mean the 6'9". Scott, do you fish Lake Dardenelle? Saw the Arkansas.

Verita mf! And were are you getting them at a discount? In the classifieds section on here there is a guy that sells abu rods and some other stuff at a pretty good discount. Can't remeber the posters name, just dig through the adds and you'll find it..

Yes the 6'9 is the one. I prefer a rod with a little give on most top waters unless they're going to be in heavy cover (e.g. frogs in pads or grass). I have the 5 power M, M Villain too. Pretty sweet all-around casting rod.
I've been on Dardanelle a few times.

Haven't been there in a few months, but it's a fun lake. Best stay between the navigation buoys if you've never idled an area off the main channel to see what's down there first. I'd have an "oh ----!" moment or two running through an area I assumed was clear. Better to be lucky than good I suppose.
