Im at fork now - in last 24 hour of my annual trip down here - not asking for special spots or anything but any info would be appreciated I'm struggling to put a pattern together, can't find a shallow bite and only picking up a single fish here and there in 15' on points -- I'm mostly throwing black n blue football jig and a crig (wtrmln red brush hogs, wtrmln lizard, French fry, gray/green fluke). Can't pick a bait to stick with on crig b/c nothing consistent for me. Cant pick a depth - I catch one 15' then 2 hour later move up catch one 5' etc

Have caught a couple prespawn fish, and one looked like a spawner 4+ up shallow, the rest post spawn or small, 2 fish 5 pounds (one shallow 5ft and one 15').

Just keep looking for a school of fish bunched up somewhere or what?
Big Main lake points or secondary points? Ever fish the old foundations and strip pits or is it too early?

And it appears the buoy going into big mustang is drifted to the north (it's on the other side of a large tree from where the "boat lanes" chip says the trail should be..? The three way is confusing too .. Is this normal for them to move that much or have they been relocated?

First, give thanks to God.

Boats lanes chip does not follow the floating bouys.
they can be anywhere , due to water-level, wind , collisions etc.
the chip is a gps point , only as good as your gps ..but better than the bouys.

Cant help you on the fish, seems like they are in transition .
(to something)
just dunno what /where they will show up next.

we were on fork last week for a few days, we stayed down south from Ray down to chaney and in the south end of little caney. down there, the fish have transitioned into secondary points near the mouths of the spawning coves and onto some main lake points. drop shots and shad colored cranks in 6-12 feet of water worked best for us. also some post spawn fish staged on boat docks next to spawning flats. I was not on big fish though, we were mainly catching 2-4 pounders.

hope this helps.

Ive been fishing topwater early and going to c-rigs and crankbaits running 12-20' after 9 or 10am. Target main lake points and cover water til you find em. Right now there havent been many "load the boat" spots, its a couple here and a couple there. Hope this helps.

Thanks folks I appreciate it. This south wind really keeping me pinned down I can't run the main lake in this 17' boat.

I agree most of the fish are in transition, but they aren't really bunched up and feeding schooling etc it doesn't seem. I'm sure they are somewhere on the lake but not in mustangs unless I've just totally been looking the wrong direction. I have come across a few fish, (and some nice slots) just not very many and cannot duplicate it.

On the boat lanes - Man I hope that tree is out by itself - otherwise there are a lot of people running right over some stumps heading into big mustang. Saw a guide do it today as well. Everbody I see is following the buoy that's why I asked. Either my gps is "out of whack" or that buoy is way way out in the woods by 150 feet or more I guess. The rest of the time my gps seems correct. FYI -- it's right near where the unmarked trail that follows an old road bed up further north on the west bank. That dead tree snag sticking up out there should be on the north side of you (on your right) goin up the creek main buoy line towards the back. It's not. Everbody is driving thru gap between the tree and the visible stumps - idk might be dangerous

First, give thanks to God.

sounds like typical fork to me... I never have had any consistency there but admittedly I suck at that lake lol

Don't be afraid to spend most of your time on the locator. You can eliminate alot of water by looking instead of fishing. There is so much good looking water on Fork, its easy to waste alot of time in an area that is not holding fish right now. Truth is, you can spend 5 hours behind your steering wheel looking for the fish and that 1 hour of catching can make your trip!

Pick up a crankbait and cover points with channels swinging in close to them.
