My motor rebuild is just about done. Root cause was an injector that quit firing. Has anyone by-passed the injection system? Sure, its a little bit of an inconvenience, but I won't mind mixing the gas if it could possibly save me another $7k rebuild.

My boat was already done when I bought it. I have the oil pump system in a box which was hardly ever used. The boat has been like that for years and it runs fine.

You didn't say what engine you have. If it's a Direct Fuel injected engine (Optimax, HPDI, ETECH), you can't remove the oil injection becuase the fuel doesn't pass through the crankcase (and bring oil to the crank and rod bearings) on a DFI.

Yes. If you pm TLW, he can probably give you the part number for the oil pump block off plate.

Injector quit firing? If it was a fuel injector, bypassing the oil injection wouldn't have saved your motor.

I have an 88 Mariner that I had the oil injection completely removed. No problems. Have the oil injection system in a box in my garage. I feel a lot more comfortable knowing how much oil is in the gas. And, I have a tendency to mix it rich. No problems at all since I had this done.

It's a 98 Mercury 200 EFI. Mine is a Mercury 1997 115. Runs great, I just put gas in at 6, 12, 24 gallons so I can keep my mixing spot on. The guy said it was a common problem so took it off before it messed up the motor.
