Swimbait, Big Jig, 2.5 size Squarebill, C-Rig a 10" worm...Not saying you'll catch a 10 lber every throw but, these are big fish baits

Jigs, Big Crankbaits, 10-12" worms and 6" Larew Hawg craws have accounted for the majority of my big bass. Finesse fishing will catch some good fish but mostly it's targeted towards smaller keepers.
In tournaments you are most likely fishing to fast to have the chance at a big fish, sometimes it takes 50+ casts to one good spot to get one Big Bite. You have to fish big fish sweet spots with the mind set it may take some time to get that one big bite.

Are you saying you cant beat a 10 pound fish? Or a 10lb limit. If its a single 10lb fish join the millions of us that cant seal the deal on an 11# or 12# and be happy with any DD lol. If its a multi fish limit...get your limit and go "big" jig for a kicker.

hope you are not fishing the exact same spots, with the same baits and expecting different results. change it up a little if you are.
fatty has more posts than you. I have more beer in my garage right now than you!

If fishing shallow put your baits in the thickest cover around and where most others won't. Even the shakey head and light line, make them bite then worry about getting them in the boat. Also make multiple cast to good looking targets. They get conditioned to anglers coming through and making 1 or 2 cast and heading on.
Or back off and fish a little deeper structure where I believe most of the bigger fish live most of the year.

Join the crowd....been fishing a long time and never even came close to a double digit...lost one in the Skeeter owners last year that might have scared the hell out of it but never got her to the boat so will never know...I just keep plugging along hoping someday.....

Its definitely a case of using big fish baits. Use the shakey head to get you a sturdy limit then put it down and spend the rest of the tourney trying to upgrade by using swimbaits, big cranks, big worms, jigs, etc ... I know it's hard to put down a confidence lure that you are catching fish on but trust me, you catch a good kicker on a big lure and you'll build confidence in other lures in turn giving yourself a variety of confidence lures. Hope this gives a boost

My dads biggest fish ever (10.15) came on a shakey head If you use a 1/2" jig you can shake rig a 10" worm and have an even better chance at it.

You will be happier, when you figure out,you can't control what size fish bites your line.

My dads biggest fish ever (10.15) came on a shakey head My second biggest bass, my 1st DD 10.13 came off a crappie jig, in the shallows in no cover what so ever, the big ones are just illusive. I don't think you have to fish big fish baits to catch the large ones, sometimes it helps sometimes it don't, guess thats why it's called fishing and not catching
