Looks like a super rig. I would go ahead and get it. Remember you only go around once in life.

Nice rig!
I've got the Pflueger president reel and it's one of the best I've ever had. The reel does look similar so I'd say go for it.
Just one more cast!

I have three Micro Light Rods - 8 foot, 6 1/2 foot and 4 1/2 foot. Best ultralight rods I ever used.

Sorry to hear about that Wisehybred. This was the 2nd combo i was looking at. My dilemma is i like the BP Elite rod but like the Pflueger Reel better than the BP Elite reel.

Yeah the reel is great and I could have just bought the reel, but I wanted a two piece rod.

I agree with fish 'til I drop. The spool on the micro reels are just to small for me. I like a reel with a slightly larger spool. The larger spool are less likely to develop line twist and will still handle line from 2 thru 6 lb test line very well. Plus the larger spool will hold more line which is needed when you break off multiple times which is not uncommon with light lines. I have a "light" BPS spinning rod that I like. I found that spinning reels on ultra-light combos are often more like toys than real reels, so I started going up one level above ultra-light, i.e. buying a light rod and a matching reel. I also like to buy local because I can take it back if I try it and don't like it; shipping a rod is expensive. Each brand is different, and I don't know anything about the BPS ultra-light combos. You are doing a good thing by asking for comments by anyone that has this combo before you order it.

Those Shakespeare reels are rough and not very reliable IMO. Love the rods, but way down the lists of reels I would personally use. Just my

MWrose777, do you have the '8" for the 5' foot combo? I am just curious, as i usually bank fish and usually go for the shorter rod. Whoops just saw this. I have the 5' and other than gills and sunnies, it's conquered lots of crappie, 3-4lb cats, a huge mess of whites and numerous LMB. It's a fantastic combo. I also have a $19.99 BPS ultra lite that is [censored]. bought it for my GF and she used it once then commandeered mine! But by far my favorite is an eagle claw ultra lite 5' casting that currently sports a H20 Xpress mettle. Im just a bait casting kind of guy. My good buddy bought a browning combo comparable to the BPS and it broke right past the grip. The rod didn't look like it actually extended into the cork at all, just glued right there.
