I don't fish out of Freeport, so I don't know the depths involved. Depth often determines what species are around. With that said, the nearshore species are pretty much the same up and down the coast.
King and Spanish Mackerel will be the most prevalent. Some locations will hold Red Snapper and Lane Snapper. If you find blue water with flotsam there could be mahi hanging around. Various sharks will numerous. Possibly barracuda. Maybe blackfin tuna farther out. Sailfish are occasional visitors to the nearshore and green water. Tarpon are possibility.

A lot of differant species. Plenty of keeper snapper, king fish, dorado, ling,Bee Liners and the list goes on. These fish see lots of hooks so use lots of chum and get em good and hot. One thing that happens every year in the gulf is folks complaining of slow fishing offshore. In July - Sept it easy to overrun some great fishing. Your not going to catch Tuna and Marlin but there is lots of fish to catch inshore of 35 miles out of Freeport in the summer.
