 Never in my life have I caught Mr. Whiskers on a popper before. Today I caught two-this was the lunker of the pair.

Caught one wiskerfish in my whole life on a topwater and it was on a Zaraspook on traditional tackle obviously. It happens but its rare and cool when it does.

Wow that looks like a black bullhead !! That's even crazier. I've caught a channel cat on popper before but a bullhead is pretty wild.

Steve where do you live? Below the dam at Lavon its teeming with catfish eager to take a fly !
Also this time a year the catfish are spawning. Any rocky area like dam riprap should have some cats. fish a white pistol Pete. they love that.

CCabal. I live in Mckinney. I appreciate the pointers. I will likely be tied down until July w work until July but will keep your advice in mind later this summer. J.

well the spawn only happens in may and sometimes into early June. So fishing the rocky areas might not be as effective in July.
