Went tubing with Cliff Hilbert below the dam at Lavon this past Friday morning. Shortly after putting in, I caught a freshwater drum on a white flashy bugger with large beadchain eyes. As we worked down the river we started catches lots of catfish, most right at the bank. We must have caught at least 20 catfish, some decent ones included. They were a blast on my "wet spagetti noodle" yellow Eagleclaw fly rod. Cliff also caught a couple crappie too. Unfortunately I had to go to work,so left them biting.

John 5:24 Very truly I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.

1Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit.

Decent meaning like 2 pounds or so. Nothing too big but still lots of fun.

Sometimes I think that if catfish could would jump there'd be a lot fewer bass anglers.

I caught this channel on a beadhead a couple weeks ago up Whiterock creek. It jumped 2ft out of the water! Good times...

The first fish I caught when I started this addiction a few years ago was a bullhead catfish. Caught a channel on a foam spider a couple of weeks later. I guess I got to good to catch them now.

Goldfish 9.78lb
Mirror Koi 14lb
Koi 16lb

Best fight ever. A close-to State record bullhead on four weight bamboo rod. He took a foam popper; it was around 9:00 PM

I have been reluctant to post on the catfish thread due to possible pond fishing resentment, but I agree with Robin that if they could jump they would replace bass as a favorite fly flingers target. The only thing is that they are smarter than LMB and if one is caught and released a couple of times they will never eat anything again with a string attached. grin

We over stocked our pond with CC early on and had a lot of fun catching them on the fly until they got to be about 15lbs and too smart to hit a fly, but dumb enough to hit a fish food pellet fly. They are a fun fish on on the fly! cool

Ill post some photos just for fun skip if not interested.

N.E. Texas 2 acre and 1/4 acre ponds.
