so after me being skunked on the big cats, i decided to go out tonight and get me and two my buddys limits for some fish frying tomorow! so knowing my luck, i take my two poles and nightcrawlers out and dont catch a single fish today! i cant remember the last time i left without some kinda fish. We had some real major storms come thru, but i feel like that wont bug the catfish much. so was it the fact we were there that soon after they were put in or the storms or should i give up? and fyi i have plenty of places to catch plenty of mudcats, but much rather munch on the channels? what yall think!

Stockers seem to have to have a few days before they start biting.
It funny how everyone will run over to the spot that they put them in at and catch nothing. grin

Shoot! I'm planning to do that very thing today. Our ponds in Houston are scheduled to be stocked today and I'm taking my son after work. Well...if we don't catch any then we'll just have a good excuse to try again on Sunday! smile

Stockers take a couple of days to settle down to their new enviroment. I have never had them bite on the day they were stocked. Whether that be catfish or trout, same result.

I don't think I would munch on mud cats. I would go to Sam's and get a box before I did that

Yea, the stocked will do that. The pond on ft hold I fish is stocked regularly. On the 11th it was stocked with almost 400 channels all around 15 inches. It takes them a fiew days to start biteing. Some other fact I fond funny; most people who fish these stocked ponds seem to think if you just put any thing in the water they will bite, not the case. Also they don't think structure or wind or even weather conditions are factors. I have been educating these people almost every trip I have been on so far. Infact, the ft hood gamewardens offered me to teach an angleing class. Lol.

Just an quick fyi. Most (if not all) of the stocked catfish ponds have a 5 fish per person limit. Just don't wanna anyone to get busted.

Glad to hear it got better!

We went to Tom Bass 1 on Friday, which was the day it was stocked. Unfortunately, as others have said, that didn't seem to be the best day to go since the fish were still getting acclimated. We didn't catch any catfish but my little girl caught her first fish ever (little bluegill) which was fun.

My son (8) and I went again yesterday and were more successful. He caught his first ever catfish and was very excited. A really nice one too. Didn't catch any more after that but still left happy since he did get that one.

Hoping to go back again today and see how it goes now that they've had a couple of days to settle in.

I would think that a 20" would be from last year.
I got a 18" and a 20" out of my local pond last week.
Yesterday was about 14" and smaller.

I don't think there was any left from last year. People fish it out in like 3 days
