Went out to Lavon to put a friends ski boat in the water since he had not run it in a year. Just a check out trip for his boat. The boat ran fine and we put it on the trailer. We were about to leave after wiping his boat down, and I looked out to the middle of the lake. I had seen a four people three of which were hammered drunk on the beach when we got there. Two of them were gone, and I could see the hull of the jetski about 1/2 a mile out in the lake. I talked to the guy that owned it and he said they were dunk but did have on vest. The jetski was upside down, but they could not get it up right. We watched them for about 5 minutes and decided they were probably worn out and were not going to get the job done. We put out boat back in the water with the owner of the jet ski and went after them. The jet ski had been upside down so long and had take on so much water it would not start and we barley got it turned over. We towed the jet ski back in and put it on the trailer and got ours back on the trailer as well. I think if we had not seen them it might be very possible they would not have made it. The would not have gone down, but they may not have lived, but I don't know how it would have turned out. Anyway, I am just happy we were able to save them and not have to report a drowning. Just don't drink and boat or jet ski. I use to have a few beers when on the water, but I have not take beer out in a long time. I figure my boat is like a corvette on the water and I would not drink and drive on land, so why was I doing it on the water. Everyone please be safe out there, not only this weekend, but always.

Thanks for the "long" post. You never know when someone reads this, remembers it, and puts it into practice and saves their own lives. Ya did good, twice! thumb

Religion is a guy in church thinking about fishing. Relationship is a guy fishing thinking about God!

I would have done the same, except I would have called Leroy to let him know I was bringing back two drunks and could he meet us at the boat ramp.

Waiting on Bob Davis' next selfie

Great post and timely as well (Memorial Day weekend)! I cannot count the number of stupid things I saw on Cedar Creek yesterday (saturday), and I would venture, to say, that 2/3 were influenced by alcohol and the other 1/3 was shear lack of education about safety on the water! Children (young and old! LOL) should not be allowed to operate any kind of motorized watercraft (that goes for everyone, including bass-fishingfolk!) without some form of training. Gone are the days of learning from dad or grand-dad because many them are also first timers. With the increased numbers of people on the water we just need something better than what we currently have!
cheers

If you lived on Lake Granbury you might ask the question WHY? Hope you opened the drain plugs before you brought them to shore,

Saw a bunch of general stupidity on Joe Pool this weekend, not terribly unlike what you dealt with. Difference being they didn't flip the boat/jet skiis. The phrase "more money than brains" came to mind several times...
