replacing back deck carpet?

got a small 17' pro gator bass boat and the back deck carpet is DONE. how difficult is it to do myself and where to start?

Just started my boat this past Saturday its not really hard just time consuming . I didnt do it on the actual decking but on the compartment door because they are metal I sprayed goo gone on them and the carpet just peeled off ,but you have to let it set over night. Havent actually put any carpet on planning on doing that this weekend. This is my first time I got some scrapers and just start pulling it off. There was no way I was going to pay the money people were asking it only cost me 160 for everything.

Not sure about on that boat but on my Old boat that I re-did the carpet in I just scraped all of the carpet out of it free hand and whatever was left I used a wire brush on a powertool with safety glasses and a mask and just went to town... Then just apply the glue and carpet...

I think a hair dryer works good on removing the carpet.---Smitty
