1 year old and just happened twice. Unit will hold last value and not update/change.
Can't get to respond to any buttons even to power off. This is the first time out since adding another 898 with Ethernet. New unit no issues

Please check the current to the unit, make sure your current is not dropping.

Does both units lock up or just the one? If just the one can you swap locations out to see if the problem follows the unit, or stays at the mounting location?

In addition, please make sure both units have the latest available update as well.

Thank you,
Deborah @ Humminbird

just one unit locks up. both are on the same circuit so if the current is pulling it down both units would be affected wont they. i will do the update and see what happens

I have 1198 and 798 on same battery. The 798 would start acting as you describe but the 1198 did just fine. I put a put a new battery in and it cured my problem. So it can mess with one unit and not the other.
