Berkley Trilene XL Armor Coated Line - Any Reviews?? #6691430 10/02/11 04:13 AM

The new Trilene XL Armor Line intrigues me but I haven't seen hardly any reviews for it. I usually use green line and this new XL is available in green, if color affects a review.

I wonder if its coating is any more effective than what is on CX Premium or Yozuri Hybrid, etc.? Supposedly, it is more flexible?

Has anyone here used it or have any inside info on it other than what Berkley advertises?

Thanks,
"befuddled"

Thanks ANDREWG but I am looking for reviews by fishermen other than Berkely sales reps...

I spooled up several reels with it to try it out since I've used trilene xl for over 30 years with no complaints. I have complained about braids & Floro's many times but never xl. I just love mono. Haven't fished it yet but it cast beautifully in the backyard on my baitcasters. I hope it turns out strong with good abrasion resistance. If so it will be my new go to line. I also hope it comes in larger spools at some point for a cheaper price. Sometimes I like to re-spool a reel 2 or 3 times a year to keep the mono fresh.

I also am a fan of the XL. How much does a spool of this new line cost?

Update. Caught a carp with this line, 14lb. test. Carp might have went 12lbs, didn't have a scale. Handled it fine. Got another carp and it was a PIG. The swirls on top of the water were 4 foot across. I'm guessing this carp went 20+ pounds. I got impatient after 5 or 6 minutes of fighting it and buckled it down & tried to horse him in and the 14lb. test Armour coated stuff broke. But it would have handled it fine if I hadn't tightened the drag down & tried to horse him in. The Armour Coated stuff has been on my reels for 2 months now and still not showing signs of memory. Still hangs straight down to the floor with a very slight swirl, but no slinky coil going on. I love it so far. It's kind of expensive for mono but I recommend y'all at least try it on one reel to see how it works for you. I think you will like it.
