I am new to Lubbock and was wondering if anyone knows where to fish from the bank. I just want to catch a few fish, any species works.

I tried some of the local parks, but didn't have any luck whatsoever.

Thanks for the help.

well i cant disagree with ya there im new to lubbock to and have been having trouble finding good spots myself. But last week i went over to maxey park. i made a few casts and next thing a see is a behemoth of a fish attacking my bait. I didnt geta good look at it but it was big and broke my15lb test line. I have sen a fish attack a bait with that much ferocity since i was 13 catching gar. I must warn yal though maxey park aint the easiest place to fish the fish there are smart they may only strike once and the lake is low currently and its bottom is covered in garbage. at one point i pulled out a kindergarden chair.if ya got the patience the reward is there.

When I was at Tech I would fish below the damn at Buffalo springs lake. The white bass would really stack up in there if there was water flowing over the rocks. There are also some bass in the creek leading down to Ramsom Canyon. Fish a 1" Rapala or a jig for the whites and a finesse shaky rig for the bass.

Good luck

A few suggestions provided these ponds didn't dry up in the last two years since I was out there.

91st/Slide, turn right onto 91st if you're coming up slide towards 98th. Litte pond maybe 1/2 acre with Channels/Bullheads up to about 2lbs, Carp/Koi up to about 10lbs

Bottom of the spillway at Buffalo Springs, Common Carp up to 20+lbs

University/Clovis Highway heading out of town turn left into that park that has a bunch of connected lakes and head down to the end by the pavillion. Fish the water spout on the opposite bank for Largemouth bass, they aren't big, but it's the only place in town with consistent bass fishing.

The pond out by the Ford Dealership off Indiana and the loop has big carp up to 10+lbs and I don't know for sure what else

Crappie House at Lake Alan Henry has incredible fishing this time of year. Slab crappie and if you catch a crappie...reel in slow...might find a sharelunker on the end a few seconds later like my buddy did one night out there. I've personally caught Largemouths up to 7lbs from there and dozens of great keeper crappie when it was in the high 30's low 40's outside with high 40's water temp at night.

Has anyone fished McCullough park east of 90th and Indiana? I was looking at the playa lake stocking reports in Lubbock on TPWD's website and saw it had a decent stocking history (for Lubbock...) but didn't know if anyone has fished there recently and had any luck. I live relatively close to that park and was considering giving it a try.

Buffalo Springs Lake!!

Especially if you wanna catch carp/buffalo

Been there once and caught a ton of em on anything you throw out that has a scent..just use a bobber with carp hook

You don't always need a boat..
But gosh darn it, sure helps!

I'd be interested in adding these spots to my Google Texas Bank Fishing Map. If any of you guys that have fished these locations can pinpoint the locations on google and send me the link, I'll get them added to the map. Of the over 200 bank fishing spots on the map, I don't have any in West Texas.

I tried looking up the locations based on the posts above, but not familiar with Lubbock and didn't have much luck locating them.

I did add the spillway below Buffalo Springs Lake and the creek leading to Ransom Canyon

There's a fine line between fishing and sitting on the water looking like a darn fool.
