I've got a HB 997c. It works fine at idle speed, but as soon as I get the boat up to about 1800 rpm's and any faster it shows a flat line and 1 ft deep. When i slow down to below 1800 rpm it works fine again. the transducer is not kicked up and the cable looks fine. it was all factory installed and has worked well for 2 years. Its on a 21I skeeter. HELP !

Sounds like your transducer is coming up out of the water

I have to agree with stratos, most of the time when they aren't working on plane it is because they are coming out of the water. You said that it is factory installed and worked well for 2 years, but it still may be coming out of the water if your boat is listing to the opposite side that it is installed for some reason. Maybe it is a gear loading issue? You would probably notice the lean to the boat on plane. If the boat is not leaning, then maybe the transducer has worked its way up on the screws and isn't quite as low in the water. If the transducer is not coming out of the water, then I have no idea.... I'd take a look at those two possibilities, then take it to your dealer and ask if thy have any suggestions.

Certainly you are not using the SI transducer for on-plane depth readings instead of a shoot-thru 83/200 kHz transducer installed inside your hull, are you????

If your unit was installed correctly for your boat type, your shoot-thru has probably come loose inside the hull.

no shoot through. the transducer is mounted outside under the right hand jack plate riser like it has allways been. it has worked fine for 2 years at all speeds (0-75) but now only at idle speed. It's low enough its not comming out of the water. it actually stops working when nosed up starting to get on plane. it should be at it's deepest at that point. Like i said, it has worked great just like it is, now no good over 1800 rpms.???

Post a picture of your transducer location for analysis, or you can email it to me at purdum43@aol.com
If you email it to me, identify who you are, I get several each week so I don't try to remember who or why.
