The way you are sprawled in the water with your gear spread out makes it look like you fell over.

They are releasing lots of water currently and the lake has dropped about a foot or so from the high point. Probably going Saturday to guide another group of paddlers or to scout the Yegua for future trips. I'm hoping to get access to Newmans so I'll only have to paddle down to the lake instead of making a 12 mile round trip to and from the lake.

Great Noodling areas at the Yegua bulheads LOL (just me trying to get a throwline free (the day of "the fish fry")-

Water was up high at Big Creek but didn't stop a fisherman from wading out onto the dock-

That is a wonderful catch. I caught my limit on Good Friday. My wife and daughter caught a few more. So we end up with 45 fish on that day. Went back on Sunday did not get any. I thought no more fish. Look like they still out there.

Thanks for the report. I'm glad to hear that fish still out there.

May be I will try again next week.

Look like your fried also like drum. I was told that the fish was not that good. However, I couple weeks ago, I caught a couple. I fillet them, seasoning with garlic salt. Deep fried them until crisp. It tasted as good as WB. My daughter also like them.

Thanks Doug!

When we left your place I had to rush home and shower to get ready for the movies. I was exuasted so I cleaned the fish the following morning. I cleaned 25 and fried almost half that same day. Did Tommy come get any?

I'll be kayaking up the Yegua (Lake Somerville) early Saturday morning (April 21) from the boat ramp at Nails Creek if anyone wants to join me. I hope to paddle all the way up to Newmans Bottom / Trailway bridge.

The lake is about two foot above pool so the trip up should be good. This is not a easy paddle because of the distance traveled but nobody says you have to go as far as I do. Fishing should be good but I'm more interested in checking the creek for logjams that need to be cleared for the summer Texas Paddling trail visitors.

Tough conditions with the front, water discharge, and lack of the Southerly wind. It was tough but managed to find scattered schools. Lots of fish holding on or near the bottom nearly everywhere. Kinda strange.

Most fisherman that we spoke to didn't have much luck. Just had to be creative.

I don't think you missed much in the creek!

We made it through the wind up into the Yegua but the fishing was very slow and the water stained. I fully expect the Yegua to be fishing good by mid May if not sooner.
