When you got water like this:

You have a chance to put together stringers like this:

One of my Home Depot Customers, Carlos:

And MOI:

15 inch Sandbass:

Pushing 16 inch Sandbass:

The Elm Fork, Where the BIG BOYS play:

A legit 16 incher:

how about a 20 inch Gaspergou:

THE SPAWN IS DEFINITELY NOT OVER IN THE ELM FORK:

Smallest fish kept today was an 11-incher:

A textbook example of a Kentucky Spotted Bass: Red Eyes, Tooth patch on tongue, and "dotted line rows" from lateral line to anal fin, all the way to the tail, and incredibly gorgeous color:

Carlos, with a 15 inch sandie:

Carlos and i each had a massive hybrid get off! Mine completely spooled my 6 lb test, and Carlos's fish waited till got about 5 ft out in front of him, and it was every bit of 9-10 lbs! Mine, well, i saw a broad, very broad side with huge broken lines from head to tail, and he was huge!

Curly tail grubs, both solid white, and variations of chartreuse, on 1/8th oz jig heads. Every fish came on these lures.

The Elm Fork has been good to me like this since 1970!

Love it!

It is the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, drains Lakes Ray Roberts,Lewisville, and Grapevine via Denton Creek, which dumps into EF above Sandy Lake Dam in Carrollton.

The river is excellent fishing ALL UP AND DOWN THE RIVER! I catch them from Lewisville to Irving. Pick a spot and wet a line!

Rudy

He isn't lying. They are everywhere. Biggest sandies I have ever seen are in the Elm. Should get better at my spot now that the release from the lakes has slowed.

nice Rudy! I'll probably be out there Wednesday afternoon.

he ain't kidding about there being big fish all up and down the elm fork, from above Lewisville down. The biggest channel, flathead, sandbass, drum, spots... I've caught have all come from the elm fork. I have caught some truly massive sandbass in late spring. here's one from may a few years back. Rudy's old van in the background.

be careful, some spots are more legal than others, and some are sketchy at times the further south you go.
