Anyone know what would cause my down image to cut out after a certain depth? My 2D images and side scan are all fine......and this happens when I use DI in anything deeper than 30-40FOW. It just started happening and I haven't changed any settings. This is on a HB 798ci HD SI/DI unit Did you try restoring defualts?

Thanks Doug, I will check the connections, no I did not solder but I will, and I also used the glass fuse. I will tackle those first.

I just bought a 97 20 ft stratus bass boat with a CMC lift jackplate. Should I mount my 997 transducer to the jackplate? What adapter do i need to buy?

Call Scap at Transducer Shield and Saver. Describe your boat/jackplate and he will match what will work for you on the side of the jackplate with a TM-HDsi mount and L bracket.
If you have a holeshot plate, then you can use the TM-HDsi mount with a wedge for the installation in the center of the plate--the best setup.

I had the same problem with my 898. After talking with the warranty rep, I disconnected the unit power supply cord, and using a small pair of needle nose pliers, i tweeked the connector ends to make them smaller, and make a better connection between the cord and unit. My unit has not shut off while in rough water since making the adjustment to the power cord connectors.

I have a 1197 and it keep losing the bottom. I will be in water I know is around 20 foot and it will start reading any where from 90 to 140 foot and showing fish everywhere. I canged the sensitivity and slowed down the scrole speed but still is not working.

I have been plagued on my 898 with not being able to see the screen when there is any sun glare on it at all. Side Imaging is imposible to see. Well that was until today. I can not be more positive about the Nushield Dayveiw anti-glare screen protector and the Raptor Screen Shield. ( I think I am calling them the right thing) anyway. I put them both on and the difference to me is like night and day. The colors on the 898 just jump out bright now and I even tilted it a little upwards towards the light. The Raptor Shield/Hood fits perfectly and definately does a great job of keeping most of the side light off the screen. Anyway, I think I might like my 898 all over again now. AND NO I don't work for any of these companies. If you have been fustrated trying to see your humminbird in the sunlight, check out the Nuview Dayview and the Raptor Shield. You really will be glad you did.

For The NuShield the best place to buy is the company. Best prices and pretty fast shipping. They say 20 days but I got mine in about a week. NuShield Antiglare sheets. The RaptorCap I also bought from the company because they also have the best price. RaptorCap Together, these give the absolute best screen on a humminbird. Good Luck. CP

Doug, I have a model 788c sonar with external gps. I have updated the software to version 5.840. I bought a lake master 2 map card. I re set the defaults before downloading the new software. The unit has never displayed the card. When I go to gps diagnostics in the simulation mode the unit never confirms that the lake master card is in the card reader. I mounted the unit on my buddys system and it doesn't work there either. I should mention that once, after I did the software download. the unit froze up. It was lit up, but wouldn't respond to button commands. The screen wouldn't move, it would not shut off. I lifted the unit off of the mounting bracket and it shut off. When I put it back on the mount and turned it on , it was working again. The fact that the unit does not recognize that the lake master card is in the reader tells me that something is wrong with the unit, and I should return it to Humminbird for repair. The lake master card says it is compatible with hummingbird units. What is your advice ? Thanks.

Doug, can I hook the HB Weathersense directly to my 898ci SI? IT has to hook to the COM Port so you need to use the AS-YC Cable that came with the unit hook GPS to the NMEA Side and Weathersense to the ACCY Side.
