Sounds like the tree huggers have made some progress on a couple of fronts.
1) Pending legislation will prevent any watercraft from approaching within 100 yards of surface feeding fish. The legislation is meant to protect fish from being disturbed in their natural feeding environment and allow birds and other members of the ecosystem to feed unhindered
2) similar to above watercraft will not be permitted within 100yards of Any marine birds such as seagulls terns loons etc. again this is meant to not disrupt their natural behavior
The reason these laws are gaining traction is because studies are actually indicating that these practices not only harm the birds and fish but they actually harm humans as well. Yes, studies indicate that there is increased rates of heart problems, stress, and mental illness associated with being near these natural phenomena
The studies cited recent posts on fishing forums indicating increased hostility to others

So, what if you're fishing and a school just happens to surface around your boat and the birds show up from nowhere...where's the law that protects me in my natural environment of never catching any fish?
And the next greenie that's says anything to me at the pump about my vehicle and boat being gas hogs will get corn gas pumped up their bhutt.
Greenies need a good arse thrashin'.....

Surely this will not apply to freshwater lakes. It makes no sense. A man made lake, fish that a large percentage were stocked from hatcheries, is that a "natural feeding environment"? I think not. Of course, its not required that a law make sense. In fact, most don't. Even if it only applies to saltwater it is still stupid. This is just another example of the Obama administration trying to kill recreational fishing and hunting. If anyone doubts this I encourage you to read the Gulf Coast Council updates that are posted in the Offshore Fishing section of this forum. Some of the decisions they make border on insanity. Evidently the Chicago Mafia that now runs our country never had much use for fishing and hunting!

I'm not calling BS on this. But I would like to see a link or something that corroborates the claims made in the OP.
Also, it would be largely unenforceable since there are usually a dozen or more boats on a school of fish. How are they going to get all of the boats to stay put while they issue citations? Seems pretty unlikely to me.
But if it is true, then put this law right there beside the antler restrictions. Just another law that does little except make a game warden's job that much tougher while having very little impact on law breaking/poaching. but it would make a good revenue generator, just like the AR laws.
If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

Yes, studies indicate that there is increased rates of heart problems, stress, and mental illness associated with being near these natural phenomena We're fishermen. Of course we're mentally ill - who in their right mind would spend as much money as we do for what we do?

I would like to see a link to the "pending legislation" myself. What is the bill number? Is it in the House or Senate?
