Why would you be mad at someone buying used gear? If a guy walks into a place that sells used goods or the internet how would he ever know?

I buy used rods and reels all the time at pawn shops, southwest in dallas sell used, here and other web sites. I guess i'm one of those poeple that support thiefs? give me a break man.

if i buy a house for $300k and its worth $600 to replace and i have insurance for that much that makes me a bad person? whats the difference?

not talking bout pawn shops or someone with used gear i am talking about known stolen goods from a person who is known to be a thief and dishonest person.

Proper thing to do...

1) write down boat number and/or take picture of boat, send on to Bass Champs.

2) if someone gets caught by Bass Champs post their names on the forum, make it a sticky, and flog them for years.

posting about vague observations with just enough details to be dangerous won't do any good. would have been better to just post about the incident in general, no details.

Anyone think this is leftover RR stuff?

I found this on Lewisville back in late January, when the lake was 3.5' low. Out in the middle. Not a trap.

Joe Willy, your defense is somewhat irrational and I can't figure out if it's because you're naive or if you own a red Ranger. Either way, you called him out for "lack of evidence" when you have zero evidence to what he saw.

Tourney directors can only do so much, it takes everyone else to police each other to uphold the integrity of these tournaments.

I am not stating a defense, just my opinion. With mass social media people read one thing or the other and then take bits and pieces and tell other people. Then it can get out of control.

I will say this lastly, I have 100% confidence the OP is being honest and truthful, I was not referring to his "story" per say, just the fact that public postings without some solid proof can turn into craziness.

BC runs a class operation and if I were a tourney angler I would definitely would fish their trail.

The best way to catch a cheater is to keep your mouth shut and just follow them or have someone follow them at the next tournament. If you say something before they get caught, they'll know the jig is up and will either change their patterns or just quit showing up and go somewhere else and do it. If you follow them and they catch fish, you don't run the risk of ruining a good man's reputation with hearsay.

Polygraphs are a deterrent and keep honest guys honest and that's about it. Does anyone know a person that has been caught cheating by a polygraph? I've been fishing tournaments 20 years and have never heard of a case, other than minor rule infraction DQ's that a polygraph has caught.

I don't think cheating happens that often, but it does happen. Unfortunately, tournament directors have to walk a fine line between distinguishing fact from opinion about certain anglers.

I have to say that I believe the intent of the OP is to give a heads up. Sure it could have been a perfectly legitimate deal, but what if it wasn't. I also don't see how the OP was throwing the BC under the bus on anything. I will promise you that there is not a single club or trail anywhere that has never had cheating go on. Sure, this example may be more on the extreme side, but cheating is cheating. How many times has a a sight fish been caught outside the mouth, yet weighed in. How many times has a tail been slightly trimmed to get under slot. How many times has a second rod accidentally had a bait flop over into the water, causing the fisherman to have 2 baits in the water. The list could go on forever, but you get my point.

Props to OP for bringing this to light. Legitimate or not.

Set the hook first, ask questions later!!!
