Gordon24, I appreciate the post! You said that you don't know exactly what was going on, but it is a warning. Keep your eyes out for suspicious activity.
Hopefully cheaters will be caught and prosecuted! Cheaters suck!

It seems highly unlikely that they would hide their fish in an open area and just dump them into the livewell right in front of you if they were in fact cheating.
We caught some guys (that we KNEW were in a tourney) doing exactly that on Millwood several years ago.

Perhaps it was a bream trap and they were catching bait? That was the first thing that came to my mind - a guide or possibly just a weekend fisherman catching live bait. Or it could be a cheater, but it doesn't sound like he's very good at it.

Who cares if its the biggest trail in the area...he saw what he saw, came here and told us exactly what he experienced. Is it the most accurate...no. But will it make others that fish in that tournament and others keep their eyes open..yes.
All he is doing is letting others know what he may have seen, so how in anyway is that bad?
And even if he was yelling "cheating" from the mountaintops, he wasn't even in the tournament so it's not like he is a sore loser.

I agree with the whole cheating thing without hard proof, that's why I wish jesse would have come to the weigh in. Don't know you JW but I feel confident in saying that if u saw what he described I'll bet u would have made every effort to track it down. I know I would. I am not a tournament angler, but I do follow some of the trails. Honestly if I would have saw that, I would have tried my hardest to get a better description,a pic, TX #'s, something concrete for sure. At the least go to weigh in and look for the boat. I have no doubts what Jesse saw, I just do not see the need to start a potential panic over a story with no concrete proof. To sum it up, why post something on the internet where hundreds of thousands if not millions view about cheating in the largest tourney trail in this end of the country? Your evidence is what you saw , passing by in a pontoon and the wind was like 20-30,so that probably added to the difficulty of seeing. I just hate to see some people panic over this random post that has very little proof in it, tht is all..

He wrote em a letter explaining what they saw. Now BC can keep an eye out and potentially catch a cheater. If the red ranger was not cheating or even in a tourny, he's got nothing to worry about and he hasn't been publicly shamed or anything. Better to bring it to someones attention than to just ignore it imo.

Sir we will have to disagree, if i'm on a lake during a big tournament, with guys in tournament gear and saw what he saw, id probably do the same thing.
I'd rather have foggy information that was truthful, then filling in the blanks with fibs to make it sound more credible.

worst case scenario is bc gets a little more thorough with preventing this stuff and best case is if the guys were cheating and see this post, they stop cheating. i applaud the op for having some situational awareness and knowing what was going around him and then filling the people that needed to know in on what he saw. well done sir.

Produce more than "I think I saw this and the boat kind of looks like this",before you post for whole world to see, I am not questioning his word or what he saw. The honest and best solution would have been to call Bass Champs, though that doesn't get people patting you on the back for reporting a vague report of "cheating" and throwing the BC name under the bus.

Gordon, I am not doubting your account of what happened. If we all start jumping on someone for coming forward with information then people won't come forward.I do have a couple of questions that would be good to have answered if possible.I think you said it was a floating fish basket. Are you talking about the kind that the lid is round and black? What kind of fish were in the basket? What kind of motor did the Ranger have? At thirty yards away how did you miss the TX numbers?

Was wondering what "tourney gear" was? I just fish out in shorts, shirt and crocs. Thought that was tourney gear? NO WONDER we don't win all the time.
