I guess Im the odd man out, got an '85 evinrude that the carbs have never been touched on. Been running ethanol fuel since it came out without a problem. Every year it sits with what is left in the tank for about 6 mo over the winter till spring, and cranks and runs just fine. It is pre mix.

I think there are alot of problems out there that get blamed on bad fuel as much as it is bad fuel. Our boat is stored with the vent open, If ethanol pulled that much moistrueout of the air our boat wouldnt run, we dont have a fuel water separator or filter and never have.

87 octane is the minimum. Anyone know the maximum octane? Aviation fuel is 100 octane and has no ethanol. Just wondering...

I do think it is a waste to use stabilizer during season. Can't hurt for long term/winter storage.

Biobor EB...lots of marine dealers now selling it. Check out their web site. They have been making fuel treatments for the military and appear to have a handle on the ethenol issue. The problem with ethenol is that it hardens fuel lines and causes the inside of the line to detoriate and then be introduced into the engines fuel system. If your moter is older and does not have ethenol rated fuel lines on it, you should change them out. I did this spring and found hard cracked fuel lines that were close to causing a diseaster under the cowl.
