Ray Hunbbard has been stocked most every year for the past 25+ yrs. Same goes for Twak. Last year they stocked 250,000 fry and 150,000 fingerlings in Hubbard, I know cuz I was there!

Are you sure it was a striper and not a hybrid. As far as I know they do not stock Striper in Hubbard, only Hybrid

There are some striper in there because I have caught a few as well. They used to stock Lavon so I am sure that is where they came from. I wish they stocked a few in hubbard as well.

They did stock some pure stripers in Hubbard a long time ago, have not seen one in a long, long time come from there. The fish stocked since the mid 90's are hybrid(palmetto- there are several different strains of them) stripers, not sure which strain though. Twak has a couple of different strains of hybrids swimming around in it, along with some true stripers. Hubbard had 2 stocking last year, one batch of fingerlings from TPWD in April, another stocking from out of state 1 month later. Bill

I know for a fact that in 1990 the stripers disappeared from Hubbard.we caught them up to 18 lbs. before that.I have old pics to prove it.since then it has only been hybrids.and I know they have not put any in since then. And I do know the difference in the two fish.

That's a pretty good/lucky job Sassyman catching one of those nomad striper. We're sure you knew the difference (guiding and all), but I believe Steve was referring to Kayakbill's statement. Welcome senor Kayak.

From the same link mentioned above twice. Last time TPWD states they intentionally stocked stripers was 1996. I would think a striper 16 years old would be bigger than 8 lbs. So it either came from another lake down the river or was stocked accidentally with hybrids. Lake Ivie in West Texas has Striper record from shortly after it was stocked even though TPWD did not stock any...ever. Lakes up stream with stripers are Lake Spence and the town lakes in San Angelo. I am familiar with the river from both those places to Ivie and I do not believe a striper traveled down either of those rivers to be caught in Ivie. My guess is sometimes fish hatcheries get whites, hybrids, and stripers batches with a low number of the wrong species in them which account for the lake record at Ivie shortly after stocking whites and the rogue striper caught here on Hubbard. Then again my mother has always said there is something wrong with me.

Can someone explain how the Feds count recreational Red Snapper catch?

It came from Lavon. Lavon was stocked with striper from 2004-2008...they have released water many times since then. This isn't rocket science. Again, I catch one about every year or two.
