I'm curious about that, how much wind before a lake starts to whitecap?
Namely Richland Chambers and Cedar Creek

At mid lake on Whitney the white caps start at 12 to 15 (south wind).. you will not get the 3 foot swells unitl it hits 20 to 25... the 4 and 5 footers are not far behind.

Ray Hubbard frequently white caps on one side of 66 and the other side looks like its been oiled down. Just keep in mind murphys law trumps what you see

For a whitecap to form, the wave height must be 1/7 the distance between wave crests.

Namely Richland Chambers and Cedar Creek Both those lakes will be white capping tomorrow if the forecast for 10-15 mph North winds holds up.

Depends on distance the wind has to build waves. For example, wind blowing the lenght of a lake will build waves much higher than when blowing across the shorter distance. Another factor is whether wind is steady or just sporadic. I watch wind in trees in my yard to see if it is too windy to go to the lake. If trees are really swaying, I stay home.

It took nearly 20 this morning on LBJ for some south bound white caps. Pre white caps really turned the spinner bait bite on though.

also depends on direction on some lakes. on fork if you get a se or nw wind it doesn't take much at all to get some big rollers out there on the west arm but if you get sw or ne or even straight north or south it can blow extremely hard and not be too bad to run around in.

It depends on what brand of boat you are driving.
