I'm looking for a decent used yak at a decent price. I want one that is more stable than fast. I weigh 220 lbs. and don't want to fall in w/ a hard hook set. Any suggestions.

This is a very tall order. We need the best. Get me MacGruber.

Take a look at as many as you can. Stop by our shop and look at our selection, then look at others. Get out and paddle as many as you can. We offer rentals, and will deduct the rental fee if you purchase a kayak. One of our staff would also be willing to meet you on the water and let you take a test ride.

If you're looking for stability, I really like the Diablo line up. But there are other also that offer stability.

There are a ton of kayaks out there that match your criteria that you can find new or used. My suggestion would be to try as many as you can before you buy, the key is I can tell you what I like but that does not necessarily fit your style nor needs. That being said we do not know what your budget is, how tall you are and what type of water you intend to fish all of those things will give us ideas on what to suggest. Also keep in mind that some kayaks, even used, don't have paddles, seats or pfd's so remember to budget for that before buying.

As the others have said its important to try before you buy. Take a few kayaks out and demo them before you pull the trigger on the wrong kayak. Mariner-sails offers wide selection of kayaks and different manafactures to choose from. They also offer to take you out and demo the kayaks for free.
Now if you are set at buying a used one you can find some good deals on Craigslist. But I suggest you do your homework before you spend money on a kayak that's not right for what you want.

Check out the Ocean Kayak Caper.

Not as glamourous as some of the others but it's a nice stable fishing kayak that tracks pretty straight, doesn't catch a lot of wind, not a speed burner, but it's fast enough and it's light 45# and easy to handle with a large storage hatch up front, and won't break the bank.

Just one more cast!
