Take your time launching and loading and dont worry about people waiting a couple of minutes for you to do it. Make sure you have all the stuff the game warden might check you for:)

Keep-up on maintenance. Especially the motor but also all the little stuff like tightening screws, wiping it down, etc. If you let the little things add up pretty soon you have a piece of junk for a boat.

Take care of your batteries, water level and charged.

Take care of your trailer very important and often overlooked. Tire pressure, lights, etc

Turn off your head lights when backing down the ramp. Bad enough youll be probably slower than most, you dont want to blind everyone. On being slow, dont worry everyone knows what its like to be inexperienced.

Be courteous, always.

Have a good tool kit in the boat.

Have spare fuses, trolling motor hub kit, duct tape, flashlight, jumper cable, charged cell phone, etc.

Have more gas then you think youll need.

Have fun and learn all you can be safe!

Try and find someone who has some exsperience out on the water to show you the ropes, there is alot to learn. Keep your eyes and ears open, things can happen pretty fast out on the water and boats dont handle like cars.

If you think the lake may be too rough to be safe, it probably is. Last year a lot of people either tore up or just sunk boats in all of the high winds.

Get a book on the motor and all your electronics or, be good at finding things onlin. You'd be surprised how much money you can save by doing the little things on your own. Also, if its possible post the type you've had on this thread, someone else may have advice on what they've experienced on the same boat and don't be afraid to ask questions to someone with more knowledge about anything you can't learn without asking. Congrats and be careful.
