I am looking at doing some kayak fishing in Port Aransas this fall with some friends and I came across this place. Has anyone been down there and done any fishing in the area? What are your thoughts on it?

Almost all the mbr's on TKF fish there. Try Spooks, Jig-heads w/Paddletails, poppin corkins w/shrimp or freelined shrimp

LHL is very popular and gets lots of pressure from yaks and is easy to access. I find it hit or miss with tides playing an important part. I prefer Redfish Bay and South Bay to LHL. Terminal flats, stedmans, ransom, and dagger in Redfish bay always produce as well as the bays adjacent to the ship channels along the main land. Shamrock Is. area is also on my list of favs. good luck--FD

Thanks for the responses. Is there a good map/chart that would have some of those locations identified?

Go to Texas Kayak Fisherman and click maps and print. Ransom road has a nice safe ramp and good fishin near by. All along the AP shoreline is good as well as both sides of 361. Good luck--FD

You can also kayak shamrock cove, just launch out of wilson's cut, and the whole trail does a big loop. I've done it several times, and the fishing there is great. Here is a map of the paddling trail and all the launch points. Mustang Island paddling trail

I definately appreciate all the responses. I am saving all this stuff and printing out the maps. I may PM you guys for some fishing tips. It's been a while since I've been to the salt. I grew up in Southwest Louisiana....but it's been a long time and a lot of fresh water ago.
