Anyone ever been down there? A few friends and me are trying to plan a Fall trip to do some saltwater fishing and I came across this.

Yup, very popular place to fish. Take a GPS if you have one because it is possible to get lost in the mangroves. At the very least stop by Slowride's Guide Service in Aransas Pass and pick up map for LHL that has the trail markers on it.

Great Place to fish. Wear good shoes for the oyster reefs if you have to drag your yak any.

Fun place. Don't leave anything in your vehicle. Also be on the lookout for them porpous. they will take your catch right off your stringer. Look both ways before u cross the channel eeks

MY 1st trip to the coast was there and fished the 1st kayak tourney for that area (2004 extreme edge tourney) .Big big turn out . A big storm blew in ,It was bad! people paddling to little islands turning their yak's over on them selves for protection from the weather . Some people got blown 5+ miles across the bays when they like 65 yards from getting out of the water! It was 7-8 pm and fishermen were just reporting in because the Coast Guard had to save them. Amazing but no one got hurt. We were changing locations and got lucky ,we had just loaded the truck! Still had fun though . ninja

So should we get a guide for a day or is it easy enough to get on a bite down there. Been a while since I've salt water fished.

I remember that day. I wasn't fishing in the tournament, but was out in my boat with my roommate. Was an absolute beast of a day.

I've been emailing them for info. I will prolly do at least a half day with him to get on a pattern and some spots. Gotta brush up on my fishing the tide skills.

Slowride is also a very good kayak guide. Even DoubleDip catches fish at LHL;-)
