Hey, I'm looking for a place that is fairly cheap for a fisherman to stay at nights, nothing fancy.
I usually go out and fish all day and have almost always just tent camped, so I'm low maintenance, but looking for some suggestions that are affordable (clean/don't rent by the hour :=) ) and even cater to fishermen. Have a fridge or fish cleaning facilities is a bonus.
Could be in the Port A, Aransas Pass, or the corp christi side of mustang island area.
Thanks!

Shark reef or the one across the street from it....Something Palm resort. Sorry, can't remember the name. Older, but clean and have fish cleaning, and a fridge in the rooms.
They are on cutoff road.

Rock Cottages? i don't understand how anybody in their right mind could recommend that place... that place is the DUMPS... and i by no means am "high maintenance" spend the little extra money and find another spot... unless your down with flying dive bomber roaches and a room that hasn't seen updates of any kind in 30 years... littlerally i stayed there one time and there was a bucket under the sink to catch the water from brushing your teeth etc. and had to be emptied.. never again stay there! I stay at the tropic island usually and it's perfect to rest your head and even my girlfriend likes it and she's alot more high maintenance than me lol

You guys should read the reviews on trip advisor for the rock cottages. Quite entertaining.
I liked the super 8 in Aransas Pass.

Hey, he said "nothing fancy" and "cheap". It don't get any cheaper or un-fancy than Rock Cottages.

I stayed at the Hampton Inn in Port A in 2007. Was not cheap, but was not expensive. A few extra dollars is worth the secure feeling I get knowing my car will still be there when I wake up in the morning. I am sorry it was Portland where I stayed, but Port A was right down the road.

Beachgate motel ... right on the beach, plenty of trailer parking, fish cleaning table. Some inexpensive 'no-frills' budget rooms, but their 'suites' go up in price pretty quick. Their pricing is seasonal, so if you get down there before Memorial Day or after Labor day, you'll be sparing your pocketbook. www.beachgate.com

Rock Cottages??? Almost got in a Wrastlin' match with the owner one night....Apparently he doesn't like fisherman, who own boats, and ask for towels after 8:00 p.m. Tropic Isles is the one across from Shark Reef. Thanks jsb.

Double Barr Cottages aren't bad. I've stayed at both locations and prefer the one close to Salty Dog but Ownership seems willing to help with anything and weren't that expensive. This weekend everything is through the roof though.
