I went to Lake Limestone yesterday and only caught 2 fish. Everywhere we went to on the lake we were getting bites, but not they would not load up the pole, instead they were just playing with the bait. I fished shallow water 1-3ft, marked fish at 10-15ft anchored up on em, and drifted. It did not matter where we fished they were biting, but like I said earlier, they were just tapping and playing. We were using fresh shad, and presented them cut, filleted, and whole. We tried small 1-4 inch threadfins and large chunks of gizzard. Still they would not bite hard enough to hook up with.

With all of that being said, I think that the front that came in Sunday messed up the bite. What are your thoughts on this? Is it possible that catfish are affected by fronts? Has anyone else experienced this? What causes them to play with your bait somedays, rather that bite good?

I fished for a few hours yesterday with my son on Lewisville with a light north wind. We chased the sandbass for a while and got bored with that. Changed over to some dip bait and punch bait and put 20 nice channel cats in the box in about 2 hours from 2 different spots. Winds changed back out of the south last night. Customers caught their 50 fish limit of channel cats in 5 hours this morning. The fish are in a feeding mode right now and wind direction doesn't really matter. You still need to know how to utilize the wind and put the right bait in the right areas.

Shad were easy to come by on the north end of the lake by the bridge. Caught 3 big gizzards and a bunch of nice threadfins.

Yeah the only thing we didn't try was some punch bait. Maybe that would've been the ticket.

You want to go right before a big front or T-storm hits.
In rivers you want to go right after a big rain.
