Yes they are.
Just a pain in the rear to catch them.. They are way up in the Button Willows 2.5-4 ft deep..... You have to hit about 30 willows to catch one crappie. To much cover. I quit trying due to they are to much work right now. Im waiting till they come out of the shallows and go to 7-12 ft. Sometimes you will catch 10 in one small area and then nothing for 100 willows.... Irritating.....

I think with all the new cover they are spread out. Like t fly said its a pain to catch them. If you do find them shallow in a area work that small area very hard since in my experience they will spawn close together in the shallows. You may walk another 100 yards tilll you find another pocket of them, so if you catch one stop and work the area. At CC i had one spot that i caught my limit without moving, went back out a few days afterwards and didnt get a bite in that area but that area was destroyed by other people wading and destroyed the brush and limbs in the water there. Also when wading always look for something different to hit with your jig as in green grass or different type of weed etc.... could talk about this all day on what to look for etc but then post would get boring on wading

Went to WRL yesterday. Started fishing the cattails by the water pump station and worked my way north, hitting cattails close to the piers. Also, fished the area east of Lawther. Used jigs and minnows, but no luck. Ended up catching 1 bass and a turtle. Im not quite sure if spawn have not started in that lake or Im too late. Hopefully I havent missed it.

Fished lavon last week, went home with 5 keepers. Worked about 30-40 willows and pulled 2 from them... the rest I got were working a jig and bobber over a grass flat.

Ok guys, Im doing "bulk" discounts on hotdogs, if you buy 6, you get 1 for free. They should be working good here during the spawn.
