Caught 3 on a Biffle Bug today. All in a creek channel using a dark green Larew bug with red sparkles in it. Probably a watermelon shade since that's what I read about the most on here and I'm way too easily influenced when it comes to lure recommendations. Biggest fish may have gone 4 pounds give or take a couple of pounds. Nothing worth pulling the phone camera out for, especially since the stupid thing makes all my fish look smaller than I'd like to remember.

Also, caught a little 1 to 2 pound chunk on an H20 bream patterned wakebait.

Threw a frog over grass for a while with no luck but again it was mid-day and I don't know what I'm doing half the time (give or take the other half). I was using mono and a loop knot, though, and tried to make it "walk". Never could get it to even stand up on on those little rubber strings, much less walk on them. To be honest, though, I've never seen a frog get up and walk on water, either, so I wasn't too downtrodden. There is a lizard in Asia that can run on top of the water according to the Discovery Channel - another weakness of mine. But I don't think those lizards have made it over here, yet.

Also, threw a Sammy with no luck. It doesn't have legs so I didn't try to get it to walk. It's best to know one's limitations. I was able to make it dart side to side, though, which resulted in the same number of fish as realing it straight in.

Anyhow, just thought I'd share.

I was fishing from the shore which is pretty much all I do
except when I fall in which is pretty much every trip for me. Seems like I've always had a knack for falling in. My kids do it too so it must be genetic. After that, I'll sometimes wade fish if it doesn't look too snakey.

Anyways, when you're not too busy falling in, drying off or looking for snakes, you might want to throw a Biffle Bug.

True Story-

Picked up a couple packages of Biffle bugs in Sooner Run (the color I believe you are referring to) paired it with a Biffle football head jig hook. This was my first experience with the bug. First toss at 7am in a tournament on Lake Waxahachie landed a 5 pounder, threw at a hump with stumps and the moment it hit the bottom my line took off. First time ever using it, first cast, in a tournament. Made my day.

Yea, I've had good luck with the biffle bug on the Larew wobble head jig. Usually get popped right after the jig hits bottom, So I usually pause a long time right there. Theres also a lizard in the California desert who can stand on his hind legs. My son told me about him, I didn't believe him until he chased us into the house. He stood on his hind legs, cause the sand was too hot to walk on all fours.

Dang, man, you sure know your Biffle Bugs! "Sooner Run" rung a bell as soon as I read it so I got up the energy to go check, and, sure enough, you nailed it!

And you don't have to convince me on the first cast story. My first cast with it yesterday (that actually landed in water. I don't count the previous attempts since it's not fair to the lure maker and I'd like to maintain at least a sliver of dignity) resulted in the largest bass.

As for my technique when I managed to land it in the lake, I let it sink for a while, then crawled/hopped it with the most seductive of crawfish-like twitches (the lure, mostly, though I may have done some shoreline moves for the sake of getting into character) and, when convinced that any extra weight wasn't the weeds I'm prone to finding (when I'm not catching oaks, willows, brier or persimmons) was a fish, I'd reel in slowly, delicately pressuring the presumed DD, then jerk like a madman. This would result in either finding yet another tree or, best case, adding a ton of slack in my line. Upon recovery, I'd start reeling again and occasionally there would be a fish on the end of the line. Clearly, the fish don't know when to bite this thing but then who am I to judge.

As an encore, me and the wife went out today.

(Side note - when she fishes with me, I have to stay on the dock behind the rails and wear a life jacket (sidenote to the sidenote -untied, of course, since I wear the pants and life jacket in the family) but I knew she wasn't much of a fisherwoman when I married her).

Anyways, I decided that it would be a great idea to catch one of the little bluegills that appear around the dock when she's with me (it's uncanny how they can work her with those pathetic little eyes-she fed them a whole pancake for goodness sake), and put it on a 5/0 worm hook under the biggest bobber I could find. After an hour of futility, I broke down and let my wife try to catch one of the little suckers as long as she first promised not to name and adopt it. Of course, 3 seconds later, I had bait. It's like they know or something.

Anyhow, I hooked and heaved the 'gill landing it in the lake in a mere 6 attempts, and 2 hours later (and the bobber making several laps around the lake) I reeled in a 'gill of the exact same size. I explained to my wife that the Discovery Channel had done a documentary on how stupid largemouth bass can be and how cunning bluegills are.

We ended up with a crappie and a bluegill for the day. I'm pretty sure my wife snagged the crappie while I wasn't looking then deftly slipped the hook into its mouth.
