Hello, I need some help guys. I have a 1996 or 97 Yamaha VMax 150. Im at work so I dont know the exact year but it does look like the schematic for the model number I listed above. Its been sitting up for a about 6 months and prior to that it was running fine. I just replaced the battery and when I tried to fire it up, I turned the key and heard a electr. buzzing sound coming from the relay assy.I also tried the trim/tilt button and I get a clicking sound coming from the same area. I can feel the top relay clicking when I try the tilt button. My question is, if the starter relay is malfunctioning, will the other two relays malfunction? How can I troubleshoot this without swapping relays. Thanks for any advice.

Make sure you have good battery connections and don't use wing nuts on the terminal connections. If you haven't, have your battery tested. New batteries can be defective.

bypass the relay with a jumper... but it does sound like your battery is dead and there is not enough power to do anything...

Sounds to me like you have the battery cables on backwards.

I thought it might be the battery, but my onboard charger shows its fully charged. I'm 99% positive that the battery is hooked up properly. I will check it out tonight after work and verify. Im also going to switch out the battery and see what that does. Thanks for all the advise and I will keep you posted.

You might want to try some of that spray on corrosion inhibitor on your terminals after you clean them. I can't think of the name but I found it at Autozone.

Sometimes its simple things. I have been coating my battery connections with greese real good for years, and they stay trouble free.
