Nice catch and kudos to you for getting on here and asking questions and getting advice when you don't have the answer.

I hope you or whoever it was continues to catch 6 pounders!

I dunno, I think it might be a sand bass. Only way to know for sure would be check with TPWD and see what they think.

If you want to check and see if it's a record, you need to go to the TP&W site and go through their " record submission process". Keep us updated and good luck.

I'm not much of a tooth patch ID person...I don't know what you are referring to. Someone put a circle on the patch and repost.

I'll say Hybrid too, but I can not blame you for questioning it. Thanks for posting!

that is where lots of people can get in trouble, We are looking at a dead fish, lost its color in my exp hybrids are much brighter. The body shape and tooth patch say sandy, but the couple broken lines above say hybrid.but they are not as scattered as most.

To Matt and the other "pro" guys ya have ALOT more exp, than most of us.so I will trust you on this one..but man thats close

I think it's unfair to require a fisherman to be a forensic fish pathologist. They should genetically engineer those things to glow in the dark or something. Not really.

White bass: Stripes faint, only one extends to tail, one tooth patch, body deep, more than 1/3 length

Hybrid: Stripes distinct, usually broken, several extend to tail, two tooth patches, body deep, more than 1/3 length

Striper: Stripes distinct, several extend to tail, two distinct tooth patches, body slender, less than 1/3 length

This one has one tooth patch (white bass), but also has stripes istinct, several extend to tail (hybrid), not broken (striper), body slender, less than 1/3 length (striper).

It is a White-Hybrid-Sriper bass.
