What is the forum consensus on this bait? I picked some up recently at Academy on a whim. I vaguely remembered seeing Jimmy Houston catch some fish on these on a show, and I remembered the action being nice on camera.
Tried them out at a Houston pond with some success. I actually fished it like a fluke: weightless, twitch-twitch-pause style. I know that's not a typical swimbait retrieve, but I caught 4 fish in 2 hours that way.
What weighted hooks do you guys recommend using with this bait to slow roll it like I'm sure it was intended for?

I throw them all the time. Hadent caught a fish under 4 lbs this year until sam Rayburn last week and I was catching fish smaller than the money minnow itself.

Excellent on a weighted swimbait hook but they tear up after one or two fish usually just one fish if it smacks it hard enough I started useing the netbait swimbaits alot better to me and less expensive also.

This: Owner Weighted BeastI seem to go through alot less baits when I use these. The extra deep gap lets the bait push down, exposes the hook and doesn't tear up the bait as bad. Just push it back up, skin hook it and go back to fishing. Centering pin also makes it easier to get it straight in the nose with less tuning.

Invest in some Super Glue (or similar product) and keep it in your boat. I use it all the time for hollow bellied swim baits as well as frogs. After you tear one up a bit, remove it amd replace it with a new one. Now, take the "used" bait and glue the torn areas up with the super glue (where the hook comes out and also where the head by your knot). Toss that one to the side for a while and let it dry, then reuse it. You will be surprised how many times you can reuse one by doing this. Also, I like to put a drop of super glue on the hook shaft where it attaches to the head of the bait, or the screw lock. This really helps hold the bait in place too. When hollow bellies first got popular and Basstrix sort of had the market cornered (which was before many other companies had their own versions), this method saved my rear a few days as I was able to extend the life of the baits which I had very few of anyway. I still do it just to get more bang for my bucks out of each bait.

get some redfish style red leadheads in 1/8 ounce in the saltwater section at bass pro. rig them in the smaller money minnow... throw next to dock pilings and kill it... they will hit it on the fall.... crappie fishing for bass!
