Thanks for read my messgae! Had to look up where Cypress TX was, well I know that Conroe, Livingston, have crappie and are fairly close. Lake Houston I don't know. Since you have a computer you can use Google to show you a map of the area, just type in "map of Conroe Lake TX" and hit return. Zoom out to see how to get there.

Sam - I live down south of Houston in the Clear Lake area; most of the consistent posters in the crappie section are from the Dallas area.
Conroe is the closest body of water to you that is decent for crappie. Many people fish the bridge structure. You can search the forum for posts about Conroe.
Livingston has crappie, especially in the northern feeder creeks. However, it's more known for white bass, stripers and catfish.
There's a power plant cooling lake north of Navasota called Gibbons Creek. I've caught many crappie from that lake.
Somerville is west of Navasota and has some decent crappie fishing.
IMHO all of these lakes require a boat for most of the decent crappie spots.
I'm not aware of any decent water in terms of urban opportunities, but I have read that crappie can be caught in the lake at the Woodlands.
