Michael, I went to weatherford so I'm sure we know some same areas.. My dad was born in bridgeport in 1942 and my grandma born in paradise in the 20's. My wife also from paradise and her who family is all over that area. They go on and on about the fishing at bridgeport and I'm ready to get it on.. you talking about the 380 bridge? pretty sure i could find that channel with me electronics..
Also.. I've NEVER been crappie fishing.. hard to believe i'm sure, but I also have summer plans of cutting my teeth on em out at bridgeport.. sure is a lot cheaper than running all over cedar creek which is where i went last weekend lol
Small world.. Weatherford, Azle, Springtown, Decatur, used to be my old stomping grounds. Even went to a few field parties in Paradise (the good ole days). Bridgeport used to be the only lake my Dad would take us to growing up, but haven't been out there in a while. Just got my boat a couple of months ago and sure I will be heading out there before too long. EM is just way too close for me too. The 380 bridge is the bridge I was talking about. Was thinking about heading out to EM in the morning as well but debating on whether to with the wind forecast (and the depth finder is busted).

The fishing part was explained great. That's what I do. The bugs don't mother me but they do swarm to the lights. I will be getting some amber colored led lights for the inside. That color is suppose to keep the bugs away. At least that's what they say.
Good luck

Good luck Let me know if that's true about the Red LED's... Never heard that, but sure would be great if true! Where did you get those lights from? I suppose they're waterproof?

Fiance is having a wedding planning party at the house tomorrow... May just see you out there! I'll be in a light blue Bay Stealth CC. Come on by if you see me and tell me if your catching them anywhere. I suppose wind blown points will be a good place tomorrow with the high gusts. I know on Tuesday they were stacked up under the birds north of the island.

Best of luck to you folks heading out tomorrow, be careful out there.

I use 2 Brinkmann. For and aft of my boat. Model # 800 1516 0. I buy from their warehouse here in Dallas, actually Garland 4215 McEwen rd off Midway and 635. $24.95. The lens is a diffractive lens very bright for very low amp draw (.3 amps per hr). It's short,10 inches. Makes it very easy to store. I lower to ten feet have done very well with them. I fish below the lites. For me a steady Barometer. As mentioned above about the shad, I put a small mesh net on a 20" dia. dip net. I put the net vertically in the water 3 to 4 feet deep and slowly raise the lite, you'll see the bait come up with it. Raise the net slow like netting a fish, right under the lite as it come up. Before the lite breaks surface raise the net quickly. That all folks, bait. I use a small 300 amp jump box for power. Constant use of both lites on one charge approx 3 complete days.

That's not a bad price at all! That's way better than the transom mount submersible LED's. Let us know when you get to test them out. Thanks for posting.

Chase for light in the boat just use a headlamp that attaches to your head. You can turn it on and off as need and it keeps the bugs off of you. I use to night fish Joe Pool all the time when it first opened. We would tie up under the bridge and fish all night. We slayed the crappie and would be leaving when most fisherman would be arriving. I love this type of fishing during the summer months. You avoid the heat and alot of people.
