Had Scott flowers and wife and a friend on a trip today. Fished deep water humps and caught a few. Went to a couple deep water humps 30 ft. deep.caught nothing. Went to a flat 15 to 17 ft deep. Caught some. Never really rack'em and stackem. Just kept picking them and trying to find fish out of the wind. Went to a hump 15 ft.Caught them pretty good there. Ended up with 112 all caught on ole ugly slabs and flies. Color did not seem to matter. Customers were a fun group to fish with and nobody cut my throat when I could not find fish,that is always nice to come home and not be bleeding. Fun day folks.

I'll be out saturday morning trying to find them.. Got my iPilot now so I'm stoked to get out to the lake.. I'll be checking all the suspect spots.. Hopefully I can do as "terrible" as johnny did today lol

Hey Johnny think I saw you out there today.My wife and I were in the older champion out by the dam. We did't do so well I've only fished the lake a couple times and the wind kept us from trying out to much of the lake.

You guys are bad. Be careful out there guys suppose to get some 25 to 30 MPH saturday and that is tough on little EM.I am cancelling my saturday trip. Just too rough for me.

Wind blown banks produced big-time!! Square billed shad colored deep diving cranks. Smash the barbs, makes release soo nice.

gborg I know it is good because the shad are spawning. But it is hard for me to try something different when my trips have been a 100 plus to over 300. Plus chunck and wind is scarey on a guide trip. I killed them last year up next to the islands in 2 ft. of water when the shad were spawning. Plus you can stay out of the wind.

Johnny, how do you know the shad are spawning? What are the signs? Do they spawn only in shallow water? How do you use it to your advantage?

I've never been aware of a shad spawn.
