You can bet Ott has every thing to do with it. The sprayers keep slipping him that money under the table. How old is he? I hope he retires real quick. He loves destroying bass habitat. He has ruined lake Jacksonville, trying his best to ruin lake Tyler. So now I guess he has Athens in his sights.

What has been your experience on other lakes when they have been treated?

Oxygen levels affected?

Fishing?

Joe Pool is only starting to recover after 3 years ago!!! Whne they sprayed there, it dayum near ruined the big-fish fishing at that lake!

I know there are some other factors, but I really don't think the spraying at Fork did any favors for the hydrilla there, either!!!

It will ruin it, Jville, Tyler, Conroe, but some had grass carp same difference. Conroe finally coming around again from reports. Killing the grass is bad! thinning not so much.

Ask TPWD why they won't stock any fry in Cypress Springs... Because there is no habitat for their survival. Purtis Creek comes to mind as well. Sad to see, but the homeowners have majority rule when it comes to a vote.

Lake Fork. Sprayed two years ago, grass completely wiped out. Still minimal grass anywhere on the lake.

I'am so glad that Amistad has the depth that it has and they wan't have to spray there.Poor old Ivie will be over run with grass if it doesn't catch some water. Love deep channels w/ grass on the edges.

here is what i dont get, Take lake McQueeny, It had a great deal of grass in afew years ago, They sprayed it and killed the grass, Then they stock it with grass carp, so why do they kill the grass with Chemical then add a fish that eat the grass? These carp then have to root around to try and find what they eat since it is all gone and seems to make the lake dingy looking. I guess that would be like putting 150 black bass in a pond and then killing all the minnows.

I do not have first hand knowledge, but have been told by a very reliable source, that Tawakoni had some awesome grass prior to the mid 90's and it was killed by spraying. Well if you have been on the lake much, you know grass is very sparse many, many years later.

2 thumbs DOWN for eradication of aquatic grass by chemicals...

No. Hyacinth was sprayed in Birch and Glade. What killed the grass off was our harsh winter when ice covered many coves out to the main lake, then the lake level dropped off.

It kills EVERYTHING!!! They prayed it a lot of places on Fork...I personally watched them spray it...not 100% why but they did. Same with Tyler last time, they went crazy. Oh well, they're gonna do what they want to do.

Start sending complaint letters, phone calls, emails, SOMETHING... Like others have said, you don't want the grass gone.

My case in point, Caney Lake in North Central Louisiana. Between 1992 and 1995 it produced 7 of the top 10 bass in louisiana record books including the biggest. Then 1996 LDWF put 12,000 sterilized grass carp in it. The fishing completely went to HELL, for 10-12 years. Carp finally started to die off in 07-09. Now the fishing is slowing getting back to what it once was.

There was even a big article about this in the "Louisiana Sportsman" magazine about 2 years ago, and a Biologist from LDWF even admited in the article that it was a huge mistake that they wouldn't make again.
