what do you mean by your statement; honest, truthful etc etc.? are you saying that Boatngo a business that has only been around for 4 months has the only honest fishing information on Canyon Lake? I have visited their location and based on their inventory I would have to differ. Helen Avery

Isn't that the same "fishing report" that the Texas parks and wildlife dept. website gives out??? Not saying you don't know the lakes well but you could at least tell people a little about what you are catching "your" fish on

Where do you think the Austin paper get's it's reports? Jim reports exactly what he/his guides catch them on. You need to get it together SkeeterTZX and quit bashing guides (people) you know nothing about.

Charlie

Sorry SkeeterT, I don't normally react this way but you struck a nerve and I couldn't help myself. The 9 hardest words to say come to mind: I was wrong, I am sorry, please forgive me.

May you have a blessed day.

SkeeterTZX,

Just to follow up. These fish were caught by my wife and I at LBJ on 8/19/06 and were a DIRECT result of Jim's fishing report/tips. Jim is as honest a straight shooting as they come!

I have looked at those JDC baits and they are just more knockoffs with a little change (so they won't be sued) of name brand plastics. If they were really better then all the rest the major tackle retailers would be carrying them. I'll stick with my Zoom and chompers.

Hey Papaw,
In no way am I bashing anyone. I may have worded that to sound rude and that was not my intention. I would just think it would be more helpful if there were more tips of his own. I'm sure he knows exactly where to go to catch fish but I bet he doesn't use Terminator spinnerbaits and JDC skip n pops every time.

Any information about what is catching is good enough for me. I still probably won't be able to land any fish, but I can at least try. I still don't have a clear picture about where on the lake all these "spots" are, but I guess I should be focusing on the conditions moreover than the "spots." Anyway, I'm just happy that I was able to fix my boat. Word of advice: if ya'll ever change out your key switch, it's a good idea to stay clear of the bare terminals when starting up the boat. Here I was thinking I was a genius for finding the bad part on the first try, when I was QUICKLY humbled by turning Magoo and grabing the key switch assembly when turning the key. I was doing the 12 volt shuffle. Yep, time to go inside and watch TV after that. Steven

Will be visiting Canyon this weekend, are crankbaits working yet? Colors? It is always good to hear from the locals on what they are using. I guess I'm loyal (or just stubborn)but Zoom has been my plastic of choice...U tail in Pumpkin/chartruese and Redbug are the colors I've been using. But in the old days...Junebug.
I really wonder if the fish care as much as the fisherman does. I am interested to hear what you guys that fish Canyon all the time like using!

Well, I've fished with Jim, and he uses Terminator spinner baits. He is sponsored by them and other mfgs. Also, if you use Creme Devil's Tongue's, flip it over and see that he helped design them. He knows these lakes.

Took a ride down by boat ramp number 5 today and it was closed. Does anyone know what ramps are open? Thanks in advance. Steven

go to www.canyonlakefishing.com and click on fishing reports. There is a list of closed boat ramps.
